Family Reconciliation Mediation Program

What is the FRMP?

The Family Reconciliation Mediation Program (FRMP) is funded by the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) to support young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to:

  • stay or return home, if safe and appropriate
  • connect/reconnect with family, significant others or community
  • recover from trauma related to recent family conflict and breakdown
  • build on their capacity to create ‘families of choice’

FRMP brokerage is available to fund individual counselling support and psychotherapy.

What's the eligibility criteria?

A young person is eligible for FRMP brokerage if they:

  • are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness
  • are aged 16 to 25 years
  • have consented to and are ready to engage in the specified intervention

How many sessions can be funded?

FRMP brokerage is available for up to 20 sessions per calendar year for a young person, approved in blocks of 10 sessions per MCM-FRMP application.

Who completes the application?

An application for FRMP brokerage can only be submitted by a professional who is providing ongoing support or case management to an eligible young person. This could be a school wellbeing worker, case worker or your GP.
